We ran a session looking at topics that we thought should fit in to a computer science / software engineering degree, particularly looking at timeless topics, and those that would provide foundations for future generations of engineers.

We plotted the suggested topics on a 2-axis chart

  • from low abstraction (hardware, assembly language etc) to high abstraction (process, systems thinking, thinking about learning, etc)
  • from core (for everyone) to nice (interesting and useful, but not for everyone)

A picture of the whiteboard featuring everyone's suggestions is linked here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wc4YKp1W0W4lz77xkZm_Mgwbk11IRCgy/view?usp=sharing
